Competitions - THE Silk ribbon embroidery competition 2012 (735.61 kB)
The following rules apply to this competition:
- The competition applies to the four categories featured on page 1.
- The embroidery panel must be manufactured by us — no cloth from the counterfeiters will be accepted. So do check that the printed panel is purchased with the Di van Niekerk label, and that you purchase from our accredited stockists throughout the world. If you don’t find a stockist nearby, you are welcome to order these directly from my website here.
- This competition is open to all embroiderers worldwide. The competition is not open to employees and to any person engaged in the running of the competition or their immediate family members.
- You may combine stumpwork or any other needlecraft with silk and organza ribbon embroidery. Turn your design into anything you like! Handbag, journal cover, cover for your iPad or tablet, a beautiful cushion… use as a block in your quilt, make a jacket or a piece of wearable art… use the roses for a bride’s dress, make a Hussif or handy tool kit… whatever takes your fancy!
- You must use my range of ribbons, silk and/or organza ribbons, which are available from your nearest stockist If you don’t have a stockist near you: my ribbons are available from my website. Please feel free to contact us if you require any assistance with details of your nearest stockist or if you need help with the colours and widths of my ribbons.
- Any type of thread and other trimmings may be used with my ribbons.
- You may enter as many pieces as you like, in any of the available sizes
- To enter: you will need to e mail us your photographs of the embroidered pieces, to reach us before midnight (South African time) on: Wednesday 19 December 2012 Note: You can start sending them any time before the deadline to avoid a last minute rush. The e mail address to use is di@dicraft.co.za
- The photographs should be of a high quality and larger than 1MB (preferably up to 5MB) in size. E mail all your details, your contact numbers and your address at the same time. I will reply when I receive your e mail and photos, so if you don’t hear from me, e mail me to ask whether I have received your photos.
- If you are one of the winners, you will need to ship your embroidered pieces to me and I will arrange this with each winner.
- As your piece stands a chance of being published in my book: it is essential that you keep a list of all the names and/or codes of the threads, ribbons and other items that you used in the design. Plus short notes of the steps that you followed whilst embroidering your piece. Your piece will be returned to you once it has been featured in the book and after it has been on exhibition.
- The judges will be external and impartial. They will be the creative team that is involved with the publication of the book. Their decision will be final.
