Chain stitch and whipped chain-stitch


 

1. Make a foundation row of chain stitches

2. Wrap each stitch once (or several times) with silk ribbon or thread.


 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Here is an example of the word Love where I used whipped chain-stitch

and 4mm silk ribbon to form the letters OVE on the lid of a round trinket box

which is shown in my Embroidered Alphabets and Monograms and Words book…
